Invetigation of thermal performance of indirect solar drying systems
In the present study, The Indirect-mode forced convection solar dryer is investigated. Three types of double pass solar air heaters with flat, v-corrugated and finned absorber plate are designed and constructed to compare their thermal performance experimentally. Moreover, analytical models for the three heaters are presented. The theoretical predictions indicated that the agreement with the measured performance is fairly good. The experimental and theoretical results showed that the heater with v-corrugated plate is the most efficient heater among the three investigated heaters.So;it is coupled to the drying chamber and the blower to construct the indirect-mode forced convection solar dryer (IMFCSD). The IMFCSD as solar-thermal conversion systems are relatively simple to construct, operate and test for several years without major attention of maintenance or repair, therefore; it is advised to use the IMFCSD to save the energy for another alternative purpose and also to reduce the losses of agricultural products which estimated to be 30-40% of production; especially, the color, flavor, texture and nutritional value of the dried products do not seriously affected.
Solar chimney can be used to dry agricultural products, foodstuffs, bio residues. One of the problems with bio-residues is its high moisture content. This present work aims at studying the effect of new type of solar chimney for drying goat waste. The experiments were conducted by natural circulation mode as well as forced circulation mode with chimney area of 0.342 m2. The experiments were also repeated with fixing radial fins at the outside of the chimney.
A critical review of the literature on the subject of forced marriages
Forced marriage is an issue hidden from mainstream society due to the extreme and fearful nature of the crime. Only recently has the issue been surfaced due to the voicing of concerns of friends and peers of the victims who are unable to attain any assistance. There has been a significant rise in incidences of this crime in recent years with a notable increase of such incidents since 2007. This book highlights the complexity of the concepts within the issue of forced marriage. The discourse assesses the various literature regarding the different themes highlighted from the phenomenon of forced marriage. The debate in this book establishes that the relationship between concepts of 'gender empowerment' and 'honour'is highly complex and therefore applying practical solutions to the issue could prove highly problematic This book should prove useful for academic students in undergraduate programmes within the fields of Crimiology, Sociology and Psychology. Furthermore this book should appeal to victim services in order to gain a better understanding of forced marriages and how to control such a crime.

Exposure to second-hand tobacco smoke at home (passive smoking) has been linked to many complications, including impaired lung function and altered plasma cytokines. In this study, the relationship between regular secondhand smoke exposure at home and the spirometric derived values forced expiratory volume in the first second (FEV1), forced vital capacity (FVC), forced expiratory flow 50% and peak expiratory flow rate were determined among school pupils in Khartoum, Sudan. Plasma levels of TNF?, IL4 and CRP were assessed and analysed to determine their relation to impaired lung function among passive smokers. Results of this study indicate that passive smoking has a significant impact on lung function and plasma cytokines. The results should be presented in educational programs to increase awareness of parents about the negative impact and serious complications of passive smoking on child’s health.
